Tale as old as time, true as it can be...

Bonus Round 3 is now open! This time, the theme is fairy tales and childhood favourites. Entries should be inspired in some way by classic fairy tales, Disney films, or other childhood classics.

If you have an idea for something you’d like to see, please leave a setting, the characters involved and any other details as a PROMPT below. Then read through everyone else’s prompts, and leave a FILL for any which catch your eye. Fills can be in any media, and they need not be long, but please put a little effort in – if anyone starts spamming this post for points, we’ll be able to tell.

You should place PROMPT/FILL, your team name and a brief summary in the comment title. NSFW prompts and fills should mention this in the summary or at the top of the post. Please note that NSFW includes any level of sexual content.

You will be awarded five points per prompt for the first two prompts you leave. The first three fills posted for each prompt will receive 15 points, the next three 10 points, and the next three 5 points. Prompts with ten or more fills will no longer receive fill points.

You can post prompts or fills for any ship this round, including gen/platonic ones (which should be indicated with an & as above). However, you may not fill your own prompt. We also encourage people not to fill prompts from their teammates, although the points will not be deducted if you do.

Bonus round fills can include links provided they are publicly viewable. Works can also be cross-posted to other websites, as there is no anonymity requirement in bonus rounds. However, works posted directly to comments will be limited to 16,000 characters by the Dreamwidth comment limit. Longer works should therefore be divided between multiple comments.

Remember, Team Chuck can participate in bonus rounds. Please note that only two prompts will receive points this round, although you can leave more if you wish to.

This round is now closed.

(I tried as hard as possible to stick to the prompt but it kind of ran away from me, haha. I had fun writing it though and I hope you like it!)

When Adam first sees her, it's after a long day of trying to drain the regenerating pond with nothing but a little plastic cup, so he doesn't really notice her. He's too tired, too worn out, but there's a sparkle in her eye that he recognizes.

It'll be gone soon, he thinks. It always is.

But as days pass and turn to weeks, and she's still sweeping away at the dirt ground while humming a tune and smiling, he is curious. What is is that's so special about this girl? Who does she think she is, toiling away with a smile as brilliant as the sun he hasn't seen in so long?

Her hair is gold and her eyes are like chocolate- not that he remembers what chocolate tastes like, no, he hasn't tasted food in what feels like a millennium, and she almost makes him angry, the way she makes him think of the luxuries of his life before he sinned.

He dubs her Sunshine Girl, and she stays there, secreted in his mind. He thinks of her when the endless dumping becomes too much to bear, and his mouth curves up.

-

He first talks to her during his break. They get an hour of break each day, because you're no use if you're a gibbering mess on the ground, and he decides to take a risk. He's been watching her for almost 3 months now, and she still shines bright. He needs to know how, and that's the only reason he's sneaking over the fence to meet her. That's what he tells himself, over and over, trying to erase her lips and teeth and eyes and face out of his mind because there's no time for that in hell. All the time in the world, but no time for things like that.

He scrambles up the fence with ferocity that surprises even him. He hasn't been enthusiastic about anything since he was alive, and even then, it feels like it had been ages. He vaguely remembers his girlfriend- Sarah? Sasha?- and fucking her in the backseat of his car, but he isn't sure how it felt. This is what this has done to him: he is a shell, empty, memories as empty as dry leaves crackling beneath his feel. But he wants memories that are taste, and touch, and sensations, instead of colorless and joyless, and he thinks that she must have that. After all, why else would somebody smile in a place such as this?

She raises her head when he drops down, looking startled at first but then she smiles again and it is even more glorious. He was always told not to look straight at the sun back when he was in a place that still had sun, and now he reflects upon it: she is beautiful, but he can already feel the pain of her being gone.

“I'm Adam.”

His voice is lackluster and low. He hasn't heard it in so long that it startles him, and maybe that flash of humanity he expresses is enough to get her to respond, or maybe she had planned to either way, but she opens her mouth and shows her perfect teeth and says in a melodic voice that he can barely believe, “I'm Jo. Jo Harvelle. Pleasure to meet you.”

-
The more they get to know each other the more he realizes that he was right, initially. She doesn't belong here, she belongs up there, with the trees and vibrant colors and people and love. She stays Sunshine Girl in his head, even though he knows her name and sees her almost every day. He begins to realize that Lucifer doesn't care what the broken souls put under his care- quite a funny use of the word, isn't it- do, as long as they're miserable most of the time, because he wants to be there even less then they do.

By the time he realizes what keeps her so alive, he is already lost to her. He would follow her anywhere. She's the blazing comet streaking through him, blinding him in her absence. She's dangerous and a bit stupid but he won't let her be alone and he has nothing to lose, anyways, so what's the point of being scared?

“We don't belong here, Adam. Whatever you did, it couldn't have been that bad, right? I think I know a way to escape, and I want you to come with me.”

He says something- maybe a joke, maybe a warning- and she laughs, so he knows he has already agreed.

-

It's raining, the wind lashing at their faces and the water slippery under their feet. He knows, now, what he was agreeing to when he said he would go, even if she doesn't, and he doesn't mind it, but he can't help but be scared. Lucifer is behind them, and Michael, along with Crowley and several others who he doesn't know, and he knows that if he fails her now she will be the subject of their torture for the rest of eternity.

“GO!” He yells, hoping she can hear him over the rain. “I'll hold them off!”

She looks at him, fear and sadness and pure stubbornness lighting up in her eyes.

“I will drag you out of here with me, Adam Milligan, if it's the last thing I do.”

She takes his hand and she runs, his Sunshine Girl, and he smiles as they race towards the light.
