Tale as old as time, true as it can be...

Bonus Round 3 is now open! This time, the theme is fairy tales and childhood favourites. Entries should be inspired in some way by classic fairy tales, Disney films, or other childhood classics.

If you have an idea for something you’d like to see, please leave a setting, the characters involved and any other details as a PROMPT below. Then read through everyone else’s prompts, and leave a FILL for any which catch your eye. Fills can be in any media, and they need not be long, but please put a little effort in – if anyone starts spamming this post for points, we’ll be able to tell.

You should place PROMPT/FILL, your team name and a brief summary in the comment title. NSFW prompts and fills should mention this in the summary or at the top of the post. Please note that NSFW includes any level of sexual content.

You will be awarded five points per prompt for the first two prompts you leave. The first three fills posted for each prompt will receive 15 points, the next three 10 points, and the next three 5 points. Prompts with ten or more fills will no longer receive fill points.

You can post prompts or fills for any ship this round, including gen/platonic ones (which should be indicated with an & as above). However, you may not fill your own prompt. We also encourage people not to fill prompts from their teammates, although the points will not be deducted if you do.

Bonus round fills can include links provided they are publicly viewable. Works can also be cross-posted to other websites, as there is no anonymity requirement in bonus rounds. However, works posted directly to comments will be limited to 16,000 characters by the Dreamwidth comment limit. Longer works should therefore be divided between multiple comments.

Remember, Team Chuck can participate in bonus rounds. Please note that only two prompts will receive points this round, although you can leave more if you wish to.

This round is now closed.

Lucifer never got along with people. He was always sullen and cold, locking himself away from others. When he gets sent to his absent Father's home, he seems to find nothing enjoyable until he one day stumbles across a locked away garden. With the help of the young gardener, Lucifer watches as the Garden grows back to life.

So I made a graphic for this, but I used Sam!Lucifer because of the rose bush next to him and his being in a garden and all. I can change it to Nick!Lucifer though if you like :)

(I hope Harry Potter can be considered a childhood classic)

Dean and Cas are sixth years and have classes and spells to do, maybe even the Yule Ball. Dean is a Gryffindor, Cas is a Hufflepuff. It would be cool if other characters were included as well like Sam, Jo, Bobby, Anna, Gabe, etc.

Based on the classic fairy tale. Lucifer was once the most brilliant, most beautiful, but his world has become twisted and dark-- the only beauty left here is the rose garden that he tends with the utmost affection. He's understandably upset when Castiel wanders in and plucks one of his beloved flowers. Alternately, you could stick with the more traditional telling-- someone else (char. of your choice) picks the rose and has to give Castiel to Lucifer as payment, since the rose was for him.

I thought I maybe shouldn't do this one, but then I thought that it would be interesting to tell it from the beast's POV.

Not NSFW, but too long to fit in one comment here.

That 'firstborn sons' bit in the fairy ep never made any sense. And, you know, Mary's her parents' first child.

(Um, forget about the pregnancy bit.)

(Tolkien's mythos was a major part of my childhood, and with the Hobbit having just come out in theatres...It seems appropriate to borrow some of his mythology. Forgive the awful Elvish.)

Bain Crabbanion (Corbett) is the son of Elu Thingol, golden child of Doriath, meets a destitute young warrior (Ed) in the woods one morning in the beginning of spring. But the young man is not all that he seems, and returns to Crabbanion day after day, eventually asking for his hand. But Thingol trusts not the race of Men, and sets before him an impossible task...reclaim one of the lost Silmarili from the crown of Morgoth (Lucifer) himself.

If you haven't read the book (you should!) all you basically need to know is that Saaski (Ava) is considered "freaky-odd" by all the people in her village. They say it's because she's a changeling, but the truth (unknown to her) is that she's really half-human, half-changeling, and thus unwanted by both. It's only when Tam (Sam), an orphaned goatherd who's also considered sort of weird, comes to the village that Saaski/Ava feels like she has somewhere to fit in. In the book they go on a quest to find her parent's real daughter and all, but honestly I'm fine with the very loosest of interpretations of this prompt since a lot of people might not have read the book.

Not sure how many people know the story but it was my favourite growing up (also trying to leave a prompt that hasn't been done before). One brother is the nice brother who only says nice things, and the other is the bad brother who can only speak evil. They are visited by Cas disguised as an old woman who seeks refuge for the night. The nice brother offers his bed, and is rewarded so every time he speaks precious jewels falls out of his mouth. The evil brother is jealous and pretends to save Cas' life so he will have the same, but Cas sees through this and curses him so every time he talks insects crawl out of his mouth.

[Thanks for the amazing prompt! It fits really well, and I had a fantastic time writing this. I hope you like it!]

"Little Claire Novak, all alone...
The big wolf threw it, and she fetched the bone...
Forged by fire, fueled by ice,
brave little Claire had to learn to be nice.
Saving her father was harder than it seemed,
and when it came to monsters, she wanted to be mean.
Gave up her body but not her mind,
screaming and crying as the angel shined.
It ended in heartache, this is true, but Jimmy-

nobody can say your daughter is not true to you."

She walks through the woods warily, her red cape clutched tightly around her small body. She is young but she is not stupid, and everybody knows that one has to be incredibly, stupendously stupid to go into the Dark Forest without a healthy amount of fear and protection. Her blade is hidden in her boot, carved with every sigil her mother could find. It is tedious, yes, but one must be careful with the Winged Ones. They plague the forests with their beautiful faces and wicked grins, and prey upon unsuspecting travelers wandering on the path.

Claire is no unsuspecting traveler, but she is there and she is young, only 12, and as much as she hates to admit it, she is beautiful, with rosy cheeks and wide blue eyes and long blond hair. But she has to get through this awful place, has to get to her father. He needs his medicine, and he is dar too weak to travel through the woods to her and her mother’s modest cottage, so she makes this journey every week and leaves her mother praying for her safety.
The big wolf threw it, and she fetched the bone...

Rule #1: If you hear a strange noise, ignore it.

But Claire is yound and through she is smart she is also curious. She has the blade in her boot, she reassures herself, and it’s most likely nothing. So she peers into the dark brush, pushing aside a branch to see more clearly.

Rule #2: Don’t make any noise.

“Hello?” Her voice almost echoes, and goosebumps form on her arms. This is... eerie, far too eerie, and she doesn’t like it.

A branch snaps behind her and she whirls around, but there is nobody to be seen. Her hands are shaking, and she hates herself for being weak, but she can’t help it. All she knows is that she doesn’t want to die.

“W-who’s there?” She stutters, clutching her cloak even more firmly to her. Slowly turning to get back on the path, she sees a pair of shockingly blue eyes staring straight at her.

Rule #3: If it confronts you, run away as fast as possible.

“Claire Novak.” He- no, it- stares at her seriously, his black wings casting shadows over the already dark ground.

She almost screams, but refuses to give him the satisfaction; instead she pulls her dagger our and holds it in her trembling hand.

“How do you know my name,” she growls, more of an accusatory phrase than a question, trying her hardest to stay brave. The stories about these monsters are enough to terrify anyone, but she, especially, has reason to be afraid, seeing as they are the reason her father can’t come home.

“It is not of import. I am here because your father is about to be killed by another race, a race that serves no purpose but to antagonize my people.”

Claire’s breath hitches, but she keeps her poker face steady.

“I can save his life. But...”

“But what?”

“I am going to need your help.”

Her eyes widen in part shock, part hope. She wants to believe him, but she knows that these creatures have silver tongues and she cannot trust one. Nonetheless, the look on his face is sincere and she loves her father more than anything.

“What must I do?”

Lucifer as the rich Lord who convinces Castiel to marry him. After sometime together Lucifer has to go away for business and gives Castiel the keys to all the doors in the estate but tell him not to open one specific room. Eventually curiosity gets the better of Castiel and he finds out what happened to all of Lucifer's previous spouses.

Ending can be the same as the original or changed to your liking.

Because I love the final image of this story, I'd love to see any character (Sam?) growing ever colder as (s)he dies and yet clinging to the warmth of memories of the since-departed trickster god... only to look up at the moment of death and see Gabriel waiting, where he has been all along.

There’s nothing left now, and Lucifer knows it. There’s no going back from the things he’s done, and this is it for him. Funny, he thinks, hunkering down in the shadows, to think that it would come to this. During his long years of imprisonment, the cold had come to be his only comfort, and he’d always embraced it like an old friend, washing over him and soothing his pain, but now, it’s nothing but biting, stinging agony something to remind him of just how far he’s fallen. He’s alone here, curled up in the darkness, just like he always has been. He misses the brilliance of Heaven more than anything, the burning, constant glow, the radiance of the Host. Lucifer strikes a match and watches the little flame flicker to life. Light. He misses the light.

The dancing ember is a beautiful golden colour. It reminds him of Gabriel’s wings. They had been so tiny when he was young, smaller than usual but downy and soft. Even before he could fly, he had always been stretching his wings out, racing about with the golden flares of stardust trailing along behind him. He always ran to his brother, arms outstretched, calling, “Luci, Luci!” It was like a gravitational pull, and when Gabriel first tried to fly to Lucifer and ended up landing flat on his face, it didn’t even seem to bother him that he’d fallen.

Fallen.

Lucifer is fallen. Lucifer is alone.

Luci...

Lucifer jerks his head upright just as the flame goes out. He was certain he heard something, saw something. “Gabriel?” he whispers to the darkness, but no, he’s alone. He lights another match and watches the flame burn down to his fingertips. It’s warm, like Gabriel’s hands had always been. He had the strangest habit of grabbing Lucifer by the wrist and dragging him off places. When angels had been allowed to walk the earth, Gabriel would wander down, Lucifer in tow, to look at all the things this world was making. He liked buttercups and oak trees, loved the way the sun warmed the grass and reflected off the water. He would stretch his wings up towards the sky and smile at that gentle heat. Lucifer’s wings are cold and numb behind him, but he feels the warmth over his cheek like a gentle caress.

Brother…

The flame dies again, nearly burning his fingertips as it flickers away into nothingness. He feels a sudden panic at the cold realization that he is going to die alone here. He fumbles with the matches, striking one after another, striking several at a time, desperate for the light, the warmth, anything other than this icy darkness pulling him towards oblivion. Oblivion, yes. Lucifer remembers that it was he who sent his brother on to death. It was his hand that buried a sword into Gabriel’s heart and watched as the light of his grace, brighter than any flame, spilled forth and dissipated into nothing. For the first time in as long as he can remember, Lucifer weeps. The sobbing shakes him to his core, down to his vessel’s borrowed bones that ache with more weariness than should be imaginable for one being to carry. At last, the body gives out. The matches fall from the desperate clutch of numb fingers, scatter across the wet ground, and go out.

With nothing more than a hushed whisper, Lucifer dies. The world does not notice.

But he is not cold, and it is not dark. He stands there, feeling strangely detached as he looks down at the body he had come to call his own, weary and broken and devoid of any life. And yet he is not cold. The light washes over him from behind, and Lucifer turns around.

“Hey, bro.”

“…Gabriel. You’re…”

“Dead. Yeah. So are you. Don’t worry. It’s not so bad.”

“But you’re… because… Gabriel, I…”

“I know. I forgive you.”

“What?”

“I said I forgive you.”

“…How? Why?”

“Because you’re my brother, Lucifer.” Gabriel smiles with a familiarly gentle earnestness. “I’m here to take you home.”

“Home?”

“Yeah. Come on. We’re going home, brother.”

Gabriel holds out his hand, and Lucifer takes it. Their fingers twist together like they used to once, a long time ago, and Gabriel's hands are as warm as they ever were as he pulls Lucifer forward and leads him back into the light.

Yes, The Tale of the Three Brothers (the story of the origin of the Deathly Hallows from Beedle the Bard) is technically a fictional fairy tale, but it's a fairy tale nonetheless. This could be any application of this story to the three Winchester brothers; what gifts which brothers choose is up to you, but I'd love to see Sam use the Resurrection Stone to try and get Jess back only to get Lucifer's shade of her instead, and/or Dean "greeting Death as an old friend" if death comes in the form of a blue-eyed angel.

Adam has been in a Greek-type hell (i.e. doing endlessly repetitive, soul-sucking drudge work that never accomplishes anything) for so long he's starting to forget what it is to be human... so he can't figure out how it is the girl in the next hell over (Ruby, Bella, Jo, anyone) always goes around like she's still on earth. Maybe it has something to do with the fact she still has hope they'll get out of there eventually.

(I tried as hard as possible to stick to the prompt but it kind of ran away from me, haha. I had fun writing it though and I hope you like it!)

When Adam first sees her, it's after a long day of trying to drain the regenerating pond with nothing but a little plastic cup, so he doesn't really notice her. He's too tired, too worn out, but there's a sparkle in her eye that he recognizes.

It'll be gone soon, he thinks. It always is.

But as days pass and turn to weeks, and she's still sweeping away at the dirt ground while humming a tune and smiling, he is curious. What is is that's so special about this girl? Who does she think she is, toiling away with a smile as brilliant as the sun he hasn't seen in so long?

Her hair is gold and her eyes are like chocolate- not that he remembers what chocolate tastes like, no, he hasn't tasted food in what feels like a millennium, and she almost makes him angry, the way she makes him think of the luxuries of his life before he sinned.

He dubs her Sunshine Girl, and she stays there, secreted in his mind. He thinks of her when the endless dumping becomes too much to bear, and his mouth curves up.

-

He first talks to her during his break. They get an hour of break each day, because you're no use if you're a gibbering mess on the ground, and he decides to take a risk. He's been watching her for almost 3 months now, and she still shines bright. He needs to know how, and that's the only reason he's sneaking over the fence to meet her. That's what he tells himself, over and over, trying to erase her lips and teeth and eyes and face out of his mind because there's no time for that in hell. All the time in the world, but no time for things like that.

He scrambles up the fence with ferocity that surprises even him. He hasn't been enthusiastic about anything since he was alive, and even then, it feels like it had been ages. He vaguely remembers his girlfriend- Sarah? Sasha?- and fucking her in the backseat of his car, but he isn't sure how it felt. This is what this has done to him: he is a shell, empty, memories as empty as dry leaves crackling beneath his feel. But he wants memories that are taste, and touch, and sensations, instead of colorless and joyless, and he thinks that she must have that. After all, why else would somebody smile in a place such as this?

She raises her head when he drops down, looking startled at first but then she smiles again and it is even more glorious. He was always told not to look straight at the sun back when he was in a place that still had sun, and now he reflects upon it: she is beautiful, but he can already feel the pain of her being gone.

“I'm Adam.”

His voice is lackluster and low. He hasn't heard it in so long that it startles him, and maybe that flash of humanity he expresses is enough to get her to respond, or maybe she had planned to either way, but she opens her mouth and shows her perfect teeth and says in a melodic voice that he can barely believe, “I'm Jo. Jo Harvelle. Pleasure to meet you.”

-
The more they get to know each other the more he realizes that he was right, initially. She doesn't belong here, she belongs up there, with the trees and vibrant colors and people and love. She stays Sunshine Girl in his head, even though he knows her name and sees her almost every day. He begins to realize that Lucifer doesn't care what the broken souls put under his care- quite a funny use of the word, isn't it- do, as long as they're miserable most of the time, because he wants to be there even less then they do.

By the time he realizes what keeps her so alive, he is already lost to her. He would follow her anywhere. She's the blazing comet streaking through him, blinding him in her absence. She's dangerous and a bit stupid but he won't let her be alone and he has nothing to lose, anyways, so what's the point of being scared?

“We don't belong here, Adam. Whatever you did, it couldn't have been that bad, right? I think I know a way to escape, and I want you to come with me.”

He says something- maybe a joke, maybe a warning- and she laughs, so he knows he has already agreed.

-

It's raining, the wind lashing at their faces and the water slippery under their feet. He knows, now, what he was agreeing to when he said he would go, even if she doesn't, and he doesn't mind it, but he can't help but be scared. Lucifer is behind them, and Michael, along with Crowley and several others who he doesn't know, and he knows that if he fails her now she will be the subject of their torture for the rest of eternity.

“GO!” He yells, hoping she can hear him over the rain. “I'll hold them off!”

She looks at him, fear and sadness and pure stubbornness lighting up in her eyes.

“I will drag you out of here with me, Adam Milligan, if it's the last thing I do.”

She takes his hand and she runs, his Sunshine Girl, and he smiles as they race towards the light.
