You better promise me I’ll be back in time...
Welcome to our official bonus round one. Bonus Round 0 is now officially closed! Don’t worry, though – BR0.5 is open for one more week alongside this round. This time, the theme is historical settings.
If you have an idea for something you’d like to see, please leave a time period, the characters involved and any other details as a PROMPT below. Then read through everyone else’s prompts, and leave a FILL for any which catch your eye. Fills can be in any media, and they need not be long, but please put a little effort in – if anyone starts spamming this post for points, we’ll be able to tell.
You should place PROMPT/FILL, your current team affiliation and a brief summary in the comment title. NSFW prompts and fills should mention this in the summary or at the top of the post.
You will be awarded five points per prompt for the first five prompts you leave. The first three fills posted for each prompt will receive 15 points, the next three 10 points, and the next three 5 points. Prompts with ten or more fills will no longer receive fill points.
You can post prompts or fills for any ship this round, including gen/platonic ones (which should be indicated with an & as above). However, you may not fill your own prompt. We also encourage people not to fill prompts from their teammates, although the points will not be deducted if you do.
Bonus round fills can include links provided they are publicly viewable. Works can also be cross-posted to other websites, as there is no anonymity requirement in bonus rounds. However, works posted directly to comments will be limited to 16,000 characters by the Dreamwidth comment limit. Longer works should therefore be divided between multiple comments.
Remember, Team Chuck can participate in bonus rounds, and if you change teams, points earned will transfer with you until the end of the team shuffle period.
Edit: This round is now closed. You may still leave fills if you wish to, but no further points will be awarded.
Re: FILL: Lucifer/Sam&Dean, Medieval (Team Sam/Lucifer)
Date: 2012-11-24 03:30 am (UTC)You would wonder where is it he is going. He has, after all, been consistent - vanishing once every week into the young night for quite some time. Anybody else may assume mischief, or a lady friend. You know better. You know that shadow. You've known him all his life, and most of yours, and it was your father who handed him to you in infancy. It was then that you were told to watch over him, for he was your little brother. Your responsibility. So yes. You know Sammy, better than anybody ever could.
Perhaps
Years ago it's been, since the first midnight rendezvous. You were the one to bring him there, to the glade, deep and safe in the forest's gloom. If was for the best; that's what you whispered to yourself to steel your nerves. Illegal- oh most grievously certain- but for Sammy's safety. And though your father never once stated as such, deep down you know, Sammy's safety trumps the laws your father wrote.
And if they don't - well, you'll just change them when you're king anyways.
It was there, so many years ago, that you learned magic was not just evil. It was so much more. In that glade you witnessed the sky dance in the palm of a boy's hand. You witnessed flowers glow and bloom and wither in mere moments. You saw animals dance, listened to their singing, all at the persuasion of a fiery young dame.
You learned the curse of magic then. How, if untapped and unused, it festers like rotten flesh, killing the man. Or, if used too often, if abused, the man descends into madness. If Sam abstained from his magic gifts - he would have died. If he uses it too much...
Well, at least now you understand why so many wizards and witches are 'evil'.
Sammy's off into the night, and you know well where his heading lies. It lies in the magic glen and the arms of the blonde wizard boy who showed him the Northern Lights in his hands. You never liked the kid - well, he's a man now, your age - but Sammy deserves that kind of madness, the sweet madness that the masses named love.
Your father sought to make him a knight. Sammy, a knight! The thought was laughable, though you never once countered your father's words. Sammy was too kind a soul. He used his magics to heal the birds that the stray practice arrows wounded, each morning after target practice. He even used it to maintain the flowers adorning the castle and it's maids just a bit longer than normal. There has always been an innocence to him, an innocence you never want battle to taint. Despite your heart, you said nothing. Father wanted it.
But your father is dead now, followed your mother to the afterlife, leaving you and your brother.
The crown that now sits upon your head is an unfamiliar weight. But it is fitting. You're foreign to it as well. You never did want the crown, but it's your solemn duty to your people, and you love your people.
You tear your focus away from the window. Sam is long gone; there is nothing worth watching through it's glass now. You have duties you must attend to. Duties you have been postponing since your coronation, two weeks past.
There is a shortage of grains this year. Rations might be needed to ensure no famine follows the unlucky crop season. The weather shows signs of a harsh winter approaching. The nearby kingdoms are warring and both seek your allegience. So many problems....
And then there is that. The moral struggle that has torn you from the insides since first discovering the magic Sammy could wield. Should you lift the ban?
Logically it does nothing but instill an illusion of comfort. Most wielders are nonviolent, leaning towards the death side of the magic using spectrum. The violent witches and wizards that the people fear are insane, and there is little one can do to control the insane. Or is that his heart speaking, rather than logic? The people are safe under the ban's firm enforcement. Maybe you are clouded by your own emotions, biased towards magic because it is what your brother must do to live. Or is it that now you know of magic's true curse, you understand?
But would you risk your people's security by ripping away the ban and it's thin curtain of protection? Would you do that? Would you throw your people into fear?
Would you let Sam be who he is in the dark, become who he is in the light?
And suddenly, there is no choice to make. You smile softly to yourself. In the morning you will rouse a weary Sam. You will call for a gathering. All the people of your kingdom shall stand in the castle walls - all of them. From the farmers, to the carpenter, to the nobles, to the gypsies, to the serfs, to the family of 'physicians' you have known since the age of ten. You will announce to the heavens the truth of magic. You will make your choice.
Even though it was never really a choice to begin with.
