FILL: Eve/Lilith, A Sheep Has Left the Fold(Team Ash/Jo)

Eve was resting peacefully in a grassy knoll beneath a willow tree, soaking up the wonders of the world she was still so new to. Adam had left her in search of some four-legged creature he had spotted beneath a bush. He didn’t want to name a creature he had yet to stare squarely in the face, so chase it to the outskirts of the garden he was destined to do.

Maybe if Adam had been there, he would have seen the glimmer in Lilith’s eyes. It was not of his creator, that was for certain.

Lilith approached Eve slowly, leaving charred grass beneath her feet.

“And who are you?” she inquired. Eve bolted straight up at the sound of an unknown person.

“…I am Eve, wife of Adam. Who are you?” she replied, not knowing the woman she was speaking to. Lilith’s lip turned upwards at Eve’s words.

“I am Lilith. And I have a little secret that your creator didn’t tell you little girl.”

“What do you mean?”

“You see that tree over there?”

“Yes,” she conceded. “But God forbid us to go near it. And besides, there’s many other trees in this garden, with many other lovely fruits to provide.”

“…What are you so afraid of? I assure you, that tree has the most succulent fruit in the garden. And if you eat that fruit, God won’t be able to hide anything from you.”

Eve approached the tree timidly, unsure if she could believe what this strange woman was telling her. Still, Lilith had a charm about her that Eve could not suppress. How could she have known her creator would make her so foolish?

“…Are you sure that I should do this?” Eve asked, plucking an apple off of one of the low-laying branches.

“I promise you, it will all be clear once you taste that fruit.”

Moments before Eve bit into the succulent fruit, she thought that she knew what beauty the world held, even if she could not put any of her confusing feelings into words. Her short life had been filled with new sights and smells and sounds and colors, all for her and her love to discover.

She never would have taken the apple if Lilith had been forthcoming.

Lilith's countenance held a saccharine grin as teeth met the apple's skin, a smile Eve should have recognized from the moment that Lilith slinked into the garden. As the juices of knowledge filled her mouth, Eve's eyes grew wide with realization.

"I promised you knowledge, Eve. I never said you'd like it," Lilith whispered, nipping Eve's ear. The feeling growing between Eve's legs was foreign to her still, but she could put a word on it. And she knew this was wrong. That everything that her God had provided her might as well come crumbling down right then and there.

Eve had sinned at the command of one of God’s most reviled creations. And there was no turning back.
